YUCCAFamily: LILIACEAE
Technically not perennials, but shrubs, these noble plants have a rare architectural quality that make them valuable as accent plants, especially in a hot setting. Rosettes of long, linear, sword-shaped leaves above which rise massive panicles of bell-shaped, waxy white or cream flowers, often flushed with pink or purple on the outside. Great favorites of Gertrude Jekyll.

YUCCA filamentosa New Summer3706

Native to eastern North America growing on rocky, sandy dunes and bluffs. Gray-green leaves and a spectacular 40cm flower stem carries white bell-shaped flowers flushed reddish-brown. Will take a few years to reach flowering size, but well worth the wait.
