Searching Genus for Sanguisorba

A small genus of graceful, late-flowering plants with arching spires of flowers held well above handsome foliage. Best in soil that does not dry out, in full sun or part shade.

SANGUISORBA canadensis New High Summer3156
Canadian Burnet30-150cm  Zone: 2
Native to North America, growing in moist spots and roadsides. Having grown a large numbers of members of this genus; this species remains near the top of my list. It does not flop, like so many; growing perfectly upright on sturdy stems. And the creamy-white flowers, in cylindrical spikes, open over a very long period, bottom to top, exposing until the very end, the beautiful, contrasting still-closed, green flower buds. Even when bloom is complete, the plants rarely look ragged; continuing on to the seed formation stage in perfectly acceptable shape. When happy, it will grow to 150cm tall. For a moisture retentive soil in full sun. Grows as far north as Alaska. Very limited.
Germination Instructions: Easy, warm germinator.
