ROSA(ROSE)Family: ROSACEAE
100-150 deciduous shrubs from the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere.

ROSA blandaJune and July3057
Smooth, or Early Wild Rose1m  Zone: 3
Native to eastern North America growing in rocky places and on gravelly shores. The flowers of this suckering rose are rosy-pink (rarely white). The purplish stems are glabrous and lack prickles with the exception of a few at the base of it's shoots. Bright red hips appear in late summer which remain attractive well into winter, creating one of the best fall-winter fruit display of any rose. Very adaptive, as it can also tolerate wet soils. Seed wild collected in Ontario.
