Searching Genus for Podophyllum

PODOPHYLLUM(MAY APPLE)Family: BERBERIDACEAE
A small genus from China, North America and the Himalayas. Unique rhizomous shade-loving plants with large, decorative leaves, anemone-like flowers and very conspicuous, large fleshy fruits in summer.

PODOPHYLLUM hexandrumSpring2767
75cm  Zone: 4
From the Himalayas, growing in open forests. Large leaves, the new growth spectacularly mottled bronze-red, followed by pink or white anemone-like flowers. The fruits reach the size of a hen's egg, soft, squishy and bright coral red. Intolerant of drought or hot summers. A cool, moist position in shade. This Podophyllum does extremely well in our gardens, better, in fact that our native May Apple. Highly recommended.
