POLYGONATUM(SOLOMON'S SEAL)Family: LILIACEAE
About 30 species of plants indigenous to the northern hemisphere, usually in woodlands, with erect, nodding stems and parallel-veined leaves carrying pendulous white, cream or green coloured flowers in the leaf axils. These are handsome shade-loving perennials for a moisture retentive site. The rhizome is jointed and when the leaf stalk breaks away from it, it leaves a distinctive scar said to resemble the official seal of King Solomon.

POLYGONATUM biflorum (Giant Form)2799
Seed of the giant form of P. biflorum, reaching heights of 2 meters.
Germination Instructions: Cold treatment required.

POLYGONATUM prattiiSpring2802
Dwarf Chinese Solomon's Seal10-18cm
Native to forests, thickets, and grassy slopes in mountainous areas of western Sichuan and northwestern Yunnan provinces, occuring at elevations of 8,200 to 10,800 feet. This dwarf species spreads slowly to create a colony of arching stems. Soon after growth starts in spring, tiny, pinkish-purple, pendulous flowers appear, delicately attached at the leaf axils. These turn into brilliant crimson red berries, which contrast nicely with the golden fall foliage.
