A large genus of over 150 species and many more hybrids. Usually deciduous erect, or climbing shrubs, widespread in the northern hemisphere with opposite leaves and small, but showy flowers and berries in the fall. Of easy culture and free of serious insects and diseases.

Native to north-central North America. This is one of the two climbing honeysuckles native to Ontario. Here it occurs as far north as the mouth of the Moose River, James Bay. A climbing loosely-branched deciduous vine growing in mixed forest, forest openings and along shorelines. The beautiful flowers are yellow or orange occurring in a whorled cluster on the uppermost leaves. These are followed by orange to red berries. Seed wild collected in Ontario.
Germination Instructions: Cold treatment required.

A deciduous shrub native to central and eastern Canada growing on rocky barrens or in bogs. Pretty funnel-shaped, pale yellow to creamy white paired flowers in late spring followed by edible, oblong blue-black berries.
