Searching Genus for HOSTA

HOSTA(PLANTAIN LILY)Family: LILIACEAE
We are very interested in finding seed of Hosta species of wild origin. If you can help, please contact us.

HOSTA ventricosa New July1852
50cm  Zone: 2
This Chinese species was termed the "dark-purple flowered hosta" when it was named by the Japanese in 1937. It is also the only natural tetraploid in the genus and will not produce hybrids as a pod parent because it produces seed without actual fertilization (but through agamospermy, a specialized form of vegetative reproduction). This means that the resulting seedlings will come true. An excellent landscape plant, with deeply grooved, green shiny leaves and widely bell-shaped purple-striped flowers.
Germination Instructions: Easy, warm germinator.
20 seeds  $4.00

HOSTA species and hybrid mix1855
Zone: 2
A wide mix of species and hybrids.
Germination Instructions: All species in mix are easy, warm germinators.
25 seeds  $4.25
