ERYNGIUM(SEA HOLLY)Family: UMBELLIFERAE
Sadly neglected by North American gardeners, the long-flowering sea-hollies bear round flower heads of blue, green or white surrounded by a decorative, shiny bract. They thrive in full sun and poor soil and are excellent cut or dried.

ERYNGIUM amethystinum New July-Frost1503
Amethyst Sea Holly60cm  Zone: 3/4
Native to the Balkan peninsula and Aegean region. The true species is rather elusive in cultivation. A very beautiful plant, with long, pointed bracts surrounding the deep amethyst-blue flowers; forming a bushy, branching low clump. We grow a particularly good form with very intense colouring. This has become our favorite Sea Holly because of its compact size, hardiness, and very, very long season of bloom, as it slowly turns from green to grey to deep blue.
Germination Instructions: Cold treatment required.

ERYNGIUM giganteumMid Summer1498
Giant Sea Holly90cm  Zone: 3
Extraordinary sea holly with strong stems and silvery blue foliage. Large flower heads with a spectacular frill of dramatic, silvery-blue bracts. Short-lived perennial, treated as a biennial. Will perpetuate through self-sowing.

ERYNGIUM yuccifolium New Mid to Late Summer1501
Rattlesnake Master120cm  Zone: 3
This North American native is too rarely seen in Canadian gardens. Handsome silvery foliage with long, strap-shaped leaves, like a Yucca, from which rise the flowering branches, each carrying almost perfectly spherical 1" greenish-white flower heads. A very dramatic and architectural addition to the garden. Limited seed this year.
Germination Instructions: Cold Treatment required.
