Searching Genus for CARLINA

A small genus of plants native to Europe, Asia and the Mediterranean with spiny foliage and showy thistle-like flowers. In addition to their beauty, this genus is interesting because the bracts open only in hot, dry weather and close in the evening or on rainy days, hence the name "Weather Thistle."
