Searching Genus for CAMASSIA

Natives of western North America and bulbous relatives of the lily. Occur naturally in rich meadows, wet in spring, dry in summer. Beautiful and highly underused garden plants. They produce grassy, lance-shaped foliage and long, erect flower stems bearing star-shaped flowers in blue, purple, white or cream. Tolerate some shade, but perform better in full sun and moist spring soil.

Native to eastern North America, growing in open woods, meadows and prairie. Keeled, linear, grass-like foliage. Open spikes of 6-petalled violet-blue starry flowers in early spring. While it will endure deep shade, best in an open spot in the woodland garden; or in sun. Wild collected in Ohio.
Germination Instructions: Cold treatment required.
